This January 2024 Malaga Airport started the year with a new record: 20% more passengers.

With the exception of the pandemic years, Malaga-Costa del Sol airport continues to break its own records.

According to the figures for the month of January, published by AENA (Spanish Airports and Air Navigation), 1,344,443 million passengers have passed through the facilities that are the great gateway for tourism in the south of Andalusia.

This is 20% more than in the same month last year. And 32.7% compared to January 2019, before the pandemic, according to data published by AENA.

Malaga’s popularity in January is not surprising, as the province enjoys a very spring-like climate compared to more northern countries and even the north of Spain.

However, it is remarkable that Malaga is now number three in the ranking of the busiest airports, only behind Madrid and Barcelona.

Malaga airport this January has even overtaken Gran Canaria airport, which tends to be the classic winter destination due to its warm climate.
