The Costa del Sol this year has fully recovered as a tourist destination, with more flights to Malaga in its entire history.

Malaga enjoys more than 320 days of sunshine a year. Thus there are many, many months outside the peak months of July and August, where you can enjoy the best the Costa has to offer, but without the crowds, high prices and unbearable heat.

If you are thinking of giving yourself  a treat and coming to Malaga to recharge yourself with sun and well-being, keep reading and discover from where you can fly to the Costa del Sol.

Main European cities with flights to Malaga 

Malaga airport is the first in Andalusia and the fourth in the country.

Since April, an average of more than 2 million passengers per month have passed through its facilities. It is therefore an exceptional year for Malaga-Costa del Sol airport, with more than 20 million passengers, which translates into around 80,000 passengers per day.

Regarding national flights, Barcelona, Madrid and the Balearic Islands are the destinations from where more plane seats are offered to Malaga.

Most of the available flights (more than 80%) are still from the United Kingdom, the main source of tourists on the Costa del Sol. The British airports that offer the most flights to Malaga are London, followed by Manchester, Bristol and Birmingham.

The second strongest issuer is Germany, from where in 2023 air seats have increase by 22% compared to the previous year. The cities with the most flights to Malaga are Frankfurt, Dusseldorf and Berlin.

From France there is also a significant increase in flights to the Costa del Sol, with 25% more than the previous year, with Paris being the city that offers the most air seats.

Also from the Netherlands there are more possibilities to fly to the Costa del Sol, with a 17% increase in flights from Amsterdam, Eindhoven and Rotterdam.

Flights to Malaga in winter season

During the winter season demand increases to warmer destinations, including the Costa del Sol.

The summer season this year ends on October 28, 2023.

Airlines will connect Malaga-Costa del Sol Airport with 119 destinations through 192 routes in the winter season from November 2023 to March 2024.

148 of the 192 total routes that the Malaga infrastructure will have this winter are links with European airports.

Among which stand out, due to the increase in the supply of seats, the Netherlands, Italy, France, Denmark, Ireland. However, the United Kingdom remains the main market for Malaga-Costa del Sol Airport, with 39 routes.

For instance, the low cost airline Easyjet will offer some 22,000 flights to and from Spain between December and March, while Vueling is also increasing its winter operations and will operate 190 routes to Spain.
