Historic summer on the Costa del Sol
The Costa del Sol is facing the best summer in its history, with 5.6 million seats on planes to Malaga.
During the summer season, which lasts from June 1st to September 30th, you are spoilt for choice regarding flights to Malaga.
This is in fact an increase of 10.8% over the same period last year, which has already surpassed all records of previous years.
Of these flights, the vast majority, more than 80%, come from foreign airports.
Flights to Malaga in Summer Season
The flight summer season starts in March and lasts until October.
This season, 57 airlines are operating in the Malaga terminal, connecting the Costa del Sol this summer with 142 destinations with 255 routes.
Among which stand out, due to the increase in the supply of seats, the Netherlands, Italy, France, Denmark, Ireland. However, the United Kingdom remains the main market for Malaga-Costa del Sol Airport.
Our British visitors will be pleased to know that this summer Jet2.com has scheduled 70 flights a week to the Costa del Sol from ten British cities.
This translates into some 400,000 seats available to fly to Malaga-Costa del Sol Airport. This adds 29,000 more seats arriving in Malaga for summer 2024 which is 8% more than last summer.
In total, there will be Jet2.com flights to Malaga from ten of its UK bases and will reach a peak of 70 flights a week in the summer.

Cities with flights to Malaga
Malaga airport is the first in Andalusia and the fourth in the country.
Last year more than 20 million passengers have passed through its facilities, which translates into around 80,000 passengers per day.
British tourists continue to be the most frequent travellers to the Costa del Sol, followed by the Dutch, Germans, Italians and French.

Seasonal summer routes to Malaga
Finally, there are also seasonal flights from a very atractive range of long haul destinations.
Direct flights New York – Malaga with United Airlines
- From 2 May 2024 there will be daily non-stop flights Malaga – New York, thus tripling the number of seats on offer.
Direct flights to Malaga from Riad with Saudia Airlines
- The seasonal summer flights from Riad to Malaga will run from July 16 to September 5.
It will be a direct route that will operate from both Riyadh and Jeddah, four times a week.
Doha-Malaga: Daily flights during high season with Quatar
- Quatar flights from Doha to Malaga: While in April, May and October there will be three flights per week, in June and September there will already be five flights per week.
Flights will increase in frequency during the high season on the Costa del Sol and a daily flight during July and August.
Finnair flights to Malaga
Finnair will offer up to eleven flights per week between Malaga and Helsinki this summer. This is the highest number of frequencies between a Spanish city and the capital of Finland.
There will be up to three daily flights in high season connecting Malaga with all Finnish airports.
- There are available flights to Malaga Airport from Helsinki, Olulu and Rovaniemi.
Direct Gulf Air flights to Malaga
Gulf Air will resume direct flights between Bahrain and Malaga this summer.
Direct flights between Bahrain International Airport and Malaga Airport – Costa del Sol will start on 17 June 2024 and will be available until 28 September this year.
Jet2.com flights to Malaga
As we mentioned before, Jet2.com will offer direct flights to Malaga from ten of its UK bases and will reach a peak of 70 flights a week in the summer.
