In summer 2023 was finally re-established this very popular and highly demanded route in high season from the American hub to the sunny Costa del Sol. It was formerly operated by Delta Airlines and stopped after the summer of 2019.

United Airlines is now in charge and so we can enjoy again a direct flight connecting the cosmopolitan city of New York with Malaga.

In summer 2023, United Airlines began operating the direct Malaga-New York flight betwen June and September, with three weekly frequencies.

However, until now, this connection is only available during the high season months until September.

Given the very high demand for this popular route, the extension of the direct Malaga-New York flight has been one of the main demands of the Costa del Sol’s tourism sector, which aspires to make it permanent all year round.

Working meetings are being held with United Airlines executives to discuss the possible extension to the whole year of the direct flight that the American company maintains between the capital of the Costa del Sol and New York from May to September.

Although this aspiration has not yet been fulfilled, United Airlines has seen an increasing number of customers looking for mid-season breaks in the spring.

Increased Frequency

So, for the 2025 season there is some good news: Not only the season is being brought forward but also the frequency of flights New York – Malaga and vice versa.

From May to September 2025 there will be daily flights covering the non-stop route Malaga – New York, thus tripling the number of seats on offer, providing more flexibility and options when planning overseas travel.
