Spanish Airports and Air Navigation (Aena) has conducted yesterday a simulated plane crash at Malaga airport-Costa del Sol to test the new airfield and the second runway, infrastructure to be put into service shortly.
About 200 people participated in the simulation of the accident for more than three hours, which did not affect the operation of the airport. The aim of the exercise is based on the protection of persons and property that may be affected and the continuation or restoration of activity in the airport.
The simulation, which has been performed without incident, has also involved groups such as Civil Protection, Red Cross, Fire brigade Malaga, emergency services and Local Police among others.
Among the resources of Malaga airport there have been the services of Fire Fighting (SEI), equipped with three vehicles, and medical professionals from Malaga airport-Costa del Sol, with an ICU-mobile.
The operation is part of the Emergency Plan for Malaga airport, and thus complies with the rules of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) regarding emergency planning at airports open to international air traffic and the established legislative framework established.
