Getting to Malaga Airport for Your Departure

Reach the airport comfortably and on time. We recommend arriving 3 hours early for non-Schengen flights and 2 hours for Schengen/EU ones.

• • Taxi: Fast and direct. Drivers drop you right at the Departures Hall (upper level of Terminal 3). Official taxis wait outside arrivals; pre-book for fixed rates if you prefer.
  • Bus: Affordable lines connect Malaga city centre, Torremolinos, Fuengirola and other Costa del Sol spots. Stops are close to the terminal entrance. Check timetables on the AENA site or local transport apps.
  • Suburban Train (Cercanías): Very convenient. The station is inside Terminal 3. Trains run every 20 minutes to Malaga centre, Torremolinos, Benalmádena and Fuengirola. Ideal if you stay on the western coast.

• Private Transfer / Shuttle: Book a private driver or shared shuttle. They drop you at departures and often include meet & greet. Great for groups or luggage-heavy trips.
• Car Hire Return: Returning a rental car? Some companies have drop-off points near the Departures Hall while others are just beside the airport and will provide a shuttle. After dropping off, walk directly to check-in or take a free shuttle from the car rental office to departures.
• Private Car / Drop-off: If someone drives you, use the short-stay parking or kiss & ride zone (upper level). Avoid long waits in free areas.

Check-in Process at Malaga Airport

Enter the Departures Hall in Terminal 3. Most airlines use T3 check-in desks. Some flights check in at Terminal 2. Check screens for your airline’s zone.

Online check-in? Many airlines let you do it 48–2 hours before. Skip the desk if you only have hand luggage – go straight to security.

Security Tips and What to Expect

After check-in, head to security in Terminal 3. Lines vary – arrive early during peak times. Have your boarding pass and ID ready.

Security rules: Remove belts, jackets, metal items and electronics. Liquids in 100ml containers max, in a clear 1-litre bag (buy one if needed). Laptops/tablets out in separate trays.

After security, relax in departure lounges with Duty Free shops, restaurants, snack bars, gift shops, a pharmacy and internet points. VIP lounges are in Terminal 2 if eligible.

Heading to Your Gate

Check screens for your gate. Staff guide you to piers or bays (Bay B left, Bay C right). UK flights often use Bay C – but always confirm.
