The top chefs of Spain will come together in the second edition of the “Food & Sun Festival”, celebrated from the 22nd to the 24th of August in the Hotel Gran Meliá Don Pepe in Marbella, the finest holiday resort along the Costa del Sol.

As the event was already a success in the first edition, it now aims to become an outstanding event in the agenda of Marbella and a reference for culinary competitions.

The gastronomic event, arranged by the town hall of Marbella, will present some of the best culinary artists and combine traditional and avant-garde cuisine.

Furthermore, during the three days there will be several activities and events addressed to the palates of the visitors.

On Sunday, 22nd of August will take place a Live Cooking, where the attendees will prepare their own dinner on the terrace of the Hotel Gran Melia Don Pepe, under the supervision of some of the most famous chefs of Spain.

The next day, Monday, 23rd of August will be held a golf tournament called “Wine and Greens”, thus bringing together gastronomy and sport, with the best of the world of Golf, wines and Haute Cuisine in the setting of Marbella, the municipality with most Golf courses in Andalusia. Visitors can furthermore sample white wines and sparkling wines of the most important wineries, and a cocktail offered by the three Michelin star chefs in Marbella, such as the Calima Restaurant, among others.

On Thursday, 24th of August the scene of action will shift to the beach Playa de Venus, where will take place the second edition of the Competition of Espeto, grilled sardines on a wooden stick, which are a traditional dish in the area of Malaga. After the contest, which will be valued by a jury of renowned chefs and masters in the matter, visitors will be invited to a refreshing beer.

One of the outstanding chefs is Dani Garcia, in charge of the Restaurant Calima in the Hotel Gran Meliá Don Pepe, a highly creative head, who since several years is experimenting with the so-called molecular cuisine, reinventing the presentation of traditional dishes.

This creative chef has also designed the Gastrobar La Moraga in the new terminal of Malaga airport.

The Feria de Malaga has a long standing tradition and is one of the mayor events on the Costa del Sol in summer.
It is a fair that you should not miss as it is actually one of the most important fairs which are held in Andalusia, with a very significant influx of tourists from the rest of Spain and also tourists from abroad.

The fair in Malaga is traditionally celebrated in August and this year will be held from the 13th to 22nd of August. The Feria de Malaga is outstanding for its good atmosphere, music and dance, wine and tapas and a lot of fun. During the event are held on three different stages concerts and performances, which are generally for free.

Another feature of the Malaga Fair are its two different aspects: the Day Fair and The Night Fair.
The day fair is held from midday onwards in the streets of the historic centre of Malaga, around the Calle Larios, with a lot of possibilities to sample wines and tapas and enjoy the festive mood and street life.
Once the sun goes down, the party moves on to the fairgrounds of “El Real”, with many booths, music, concerts and the typical fairground attractions, where visitors can have fun until dawn.

On Friday, August 13th, before midnight will be held the official opening speech for the Fair on the beach of La Malagueta, where thousands of locals and visitors are congregating. Immediately afterwards there will be a great firework, followed by an open air concert around 00:30 am at the same beach.

In order to facilitate the Access for visitors to the fair this year the town hall of Malaga enables 10,000 parking spaces in the fairground. There are also 18 additional bus routes for 1.50 €.

Malaga remains the second port of the peninsula regarding the traffic of cruise ships, awaiting the high season to begin in September.

Despite the economic crisis affecting almost all sectors, it is a good time for cruise traffic in the Port of Malaga, which continues to record positive numbers. The overall balance is positive throughout the national territory, in fact Málaga virtually remains in the same numbers than last year, but from September onwards will provide a quantitative leap that will contribute to historical records by the end of the year.

During the first six months of 2010, the Port of Málaga received a total of 182.927 tourists and 119 cruise ships.

But growth will come with the start of high season, which is historically considered in Málaga during the last quarter of the year. According to forecasts by the Port Authority, Málaga will close the course of 20210 with a total of 330 cruise ships.

One of the objectives of the Port of Málaga for this year’s course was to break with the historical seasonality that has ever existed during the summer months with cruise ships. In this sense the July data are positive, as there have been a total of 22 scales of cruises compared to the 16 that were recorded last year.

At present three ships have weekly stops at the Port of Malaga, which are the Pacific Dream (Pullmantur) and the Adventure of the Seas (Royal Caribbean) and Louis Majesty, of Louis Cruise Line. Also can be highlighted the shipping company in Malaga, Costa Cruises, which every week brings several of their vessels. Another regular provider, the MSC will begin to operate more regularly from September onwards.

With our company you can book transfers from Malaga Port to any destination.

Located between Genal Valley and the Costa del Sol, the village of Casares is one of the Andalusian white villages that definitely deserve a visit. Historic monuments, museums, typically Andalusian streets, ecological sites, beaches and local cuisine are some the offers of this beautiful municipality.

Casares retains many more monuments and remains of interest in the town itself, which is distinguished since three decades as a Historic-Artistic Site. To that nomination contributed largely the whitewashed houses, which fit neatly onto the rugged hillside on which the village is situated, crowned by the remains of what was an Arab castle.

Precisely in this historic setting takes place this weekend a new edition of the Artisan Market. Considered one of the most important and ancient markets in Andalusia, this event offers visitors one of the best medieval atmospheres amid the walls of the castle. From today until Sunday you can see and buy crafts and sample traditional cuisine. There have been as well organized workshops, musical performances and other leisure activities for the occasion.

Casares is situated close to Estepona on the western Costa del Sol, 55 km from Marbella.
